Destin Domond (Haiti)

Destin Domond was born in Jacmel in 1962, into a family of artists. The well-known Wilmino Domond being his uncle. Destin spent much of his life between Port au Prince and Jacmel.

At 11 years he made his first move to Port au Prince with his mother. There he continued his schooling until 5th Grade. He returned to Jacmel later and began working with a local Jacmel journal called Le Combat. After a couple of years he returned to Port au Prince to study reporting and there he stayed working as a journalist for 3 years.

His final return to Jacmel happened in the early 90's when Destin settled for good in Jacmel and there began his painting career. Ever since the day he picked up a brush he has been absorbed in the process of painting. He has maintained his style his whole painting career but never stops growing.

His quality and luminosity of color have been his focus since he joined FOSAJ. As one of the most disciplined artists of FOSAJ, Destin can be seen everyday without fail working on his canvases all day long. He describes the sensation of painting as a "transcendence to another world". A world where he creates stories based on his interpretation of his country and culture. Destin's preferred medium is oil but recently he has began to work a lot in acrylic.
